Wade Kernot
Wade Kernot was a founding member of Opera Factory and in 2003 joined the NBR New Zealand Opera for productions of Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky), Tosca (Puccini), Die Zauberflöte (Mozart).
He has appeared as a soloist in concert performances with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland and Wellington Philharmonic orchestras. In 2004 he was awarded the Circle 100 scholarship recipient. He was a member of “New Vintage”, a group who performed in the “Our Giants Concert” with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
In 2005 Wade took up a principal position with the Australian Opera Studio, performing Truffaldino in Ariadne auf Naxos (R. Strauss), Elijah in Elijah (Mendelssohn), Crespel, Luther, and Coppélieus in Les contes d’Hoffmann (Offenbach), Don Alfonso in Cosí fan tutte (Mozart), Unulfo in Rodelinda (Handel), Colas in Bastien et Bastienne (Mozart), The Chevalier des Grieux in Manon (Massenet) and Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart).

In December last year he sang the bass role in Stravinsky’s “Pulcinella” for the Hessisches Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, Germany. He also won the Napier Aria competition and was runner-up in the 2007 Lexus songquest.
Wade is currently studying at the National Opera Studio, in London UK and will be competing as a semi-finalist at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2009 competition in June. He will be attending the Solti-Te Kanawa Accademia di Bel Canto 2009 in July. Wade will also appearing at the Edinburgh Festival's concert performance of Verdi's Macbeth in August this year, this will also be recorded by the BBC.
