Ravil Atlas
Ravil Atlas is pleased to be making his first appearance with Southern Opera as a new resident of Christchurch. He made his debut with the company in its inaugural production of Carmen as Remendado.
Ravil's opera credits include leading tenor roles in more than 70 professional productions worldwide including Tosca, La Boheme, Il Trovatore, Carmen, Pagliacci, and most recently in Un Ballo in Maschera and Otello with Northern Ireland's Castleward Opera. Ravil also enjoyed a fruitful career in musical theatre with long Broadway production runs of Les Miserables' (Jean Valjean) and the Phantom of the Opera (Ubaldo Piangi) as well as many other US regional credits.
Ravil has also been a successful voice teacher, with many former students now in professional work, and has been the course director at Newcastle College (UK) and the Theater Artists' Institute (US).
His next role will be as a new father, with the expected birth of a baby with his wife Amanda, due in mid-October.
