Rachelle Pike is a 25 year old Mezzo Soprano from Blenheim. She recently completed her Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours majoring in Performance Voice for Canterbury University where she studied under Dame Malvina Major. She was also a 2006/2007 PricewaterHouseCoopers Dame Malvina Major Emerging Artist with NBR New Zealand Opera.

In 2007, Rachelle performed the role of Mercédès in Southern Opera's inaugural production, Carmen.

 

Her recent engagements include New Zealand composer Anthony Ritchie's The God Boy, the title role in Menotti's The Medium for Canterbury University's Platform Arts Festival, minor understudy roles in Gounod's Faust, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Hansel (cover) in Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel for NBR NZ Opera.  She appeared as a soloist with the Christchurch City Choir and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Summer Matinee and Christmas performances with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, and performances with the Chapman Tripp Opera Chorus.   In 2010 she will be attending the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
